Week 5 (Sep. 9th-13th)

Hello 3rd grade families! Remember that spelling homework & tests begin THIS week. Math homework will be from our Engage New York curriculum and will be due the next day (we will work on fluency in class). Problems crossed out will not be required to complete, however if your student wants to challenge him/herself and do them I'm totally ok with it! Grammar: Adverbs
Reading: 14 Cows for America
Reading Skill: Summarizing
Writing: Drafting our 1st Personal Narrative Masterpiece
Science: Explore Forces, Mass, and Motion
Math: Module 1 Finish Topic C & Begin Topic D

• Analyze Arrays to Multiply Using Units of 2 and 3
• Division using units of 2 and 3
• District Benchmark Assessment (i-Ready) throughout the week

This Wednesday, September 11th is Patriot Day! We will be learning about the historical events of this tragic day, however our focus will be on the heroism of our first responders, kindness of citizens, and unity displayed throughout the nation. In place of math homework on Wednesday, students will have a 9/11 interview worksheet they will turn in the next day (Thursday).

Homework this week:

1. Engage NY math page-due the next day! (Mon., Tues., & Thurs.)
2. Nightly Spelling Relay Activity-due Friday (Test on Friday!)
3. Read 20+ minutes each night
4. Practice memorizing 2s & 3s facts for 10-15 min on https://www.timestables.com/, skip counting aloud to an adult, use flashcards, or write facts down each on paper & practice reading out loud
