If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, I do need to reimburse Mrs. Topleski as soon as possible. Lastly, we reviewed telling time on an analog clock and elapsed time last week, but some kiddos still need extra practice especially with elapsed time. Please help reinforce this skill at home by asking how many minutes have passed between 2 times. For example, if your family starts eating dinner at 5:13 p.m. and finishes at 5:37 p.m. ask them to figure out how many minutes did [we] spend eating altogether? Have a fantastic week!

When your child reads at home as part of nightly homework, please sit with him/her and listen & monitor their reading and have them read aloud. Welcome to 3rd grade 2019-2020

Bitmoji Image
Welcome to 3rd grade!!!

I hope you all had a relaxing and fun summer! I am so excited to be apart of your child's education and I look forward to working with you to support their learning this year! Your child is going to grow in SO many ways this year!
The first days (and few weeks) of school we will focus on getting to know one another and establishing our classroom expectations and routines along with reviewing our CHES character counts traits. If you are not familiar with our CHES traits they are:
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Citizenship
  • Trustworthiness
  • Fairness
  • Caring
These traits will be common language throughout the year as students learn what it means to be an outstanding 3rd grade CHES Charger! We will also be talking about Growth Mindset throughout the year. We will learn that we can develop skills in anything (school based or outside of school) if we are just willing to practice those skills everyday and change our mindset.

Please navigate through this webpage to find lots of useful links and information about our year! I will update this blog weekly with learning goals, homework, special events, class pictures, curriculum resources, etc.

I look forward to getting to know all of our families this year! If you have any questions please email me @ cynthia_wiley@ycjusd.us or contact me via Dojo messenger.

~Mrs. Wiley
